Oonagh & Stuart, 16th July 2016
Last summer I had the pleasure of covering the wedding of Oonagh and Stuart. They were getting married In the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception In Maryhill. Their reception was going to be In Oran Mor, so they had suggested that we could do the wedding pictures In the Botanic Gardens which sounded like a great idea.
I hadn’t covered a wedding at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception before so I decided to take a drive up to do a recce a few days before the wedding. On the way there I spotted the Maryhill Locks. The locks are a series on locks on the Forth and Clyde Canal which is very much like the Neptunes Staircase on the Caledonian Canal at Fort William, though not anywhere near as well known. I knew straight away that this would make a great location for wedding pictures and I couldn’t wait for the big day to arrive. I love unusual places to do wedding pictures and I knew that It would make a great location.
The wedding itself was a very small, intimate and very personal service with some beautiful readings by friends and family of Oonagh and Stuart.
After the service I took some group shots outside the Chapel and then we went on to the canal to the main pictures of the happy couple. It was forecast to rain on the day and at times It looked like it was going to pour down. Thankfully our luck held out and it stayed dry the whole way through the photoshoot.
We still had time after I finished at the canal so we decided to carry on to the Botanic Gardens In the west end of Glasgow which was a beautiful location for pictures.
When you cover some weddings you are sometimes left scratching your head wondering where you are going to take your wedding couple. This was one wedding where I was spoiled for choice and I loved how the pictures turned out.
