Fiona & Crawford’s Wedding, House For an Art Lover, Glasgow
Whenever I am asked to cover someone’s wedding, I always put a lot of pressure on myself to do a good job. Someone’s wedding day Is one of the biggest day’s of their life. They will have the pictures forever and I hope they enjoy looking back at them and showing them to friends and family. When I’m asked by a friend to do their wedding, then It ads even more pressure as I know them personally.
This was the case when Crawford asked me to cover his wedding. I have known Crawford for about ten years as he is also a photographer, a bloody good one as well. It was an honour to be asked and and I was very flattered to say the least.
I met Crawford and his lovely bride to be Fiona before the wedding, I got really excited when they told me that they were getting married at House For An Art Lover. This is a beautiful venue that sits In Bellahouston Park, In the south side of Glasgow and was designed by Charles Rennie MacKintosh. I attended a wedding there a couple of years ago and I was actually my friends best man, so I have happy memories of the place. When I there the first time I remember thinking to myself that I would love to cover a wedding here. So I found myself getting my wish granted a couple of years later and couldn’t wait.
The day itself was fantastic. From my point of view the weather was bright and overcast for most of the day, which was perfect for photography. All the guests were really relaxed and up for a laugh which made my job a joy to do. One of the highlights for me were the speeches. A lot of thought had went into each one and were all very funny. Lots of presents were passed around and each one had a funny story to go with It.
Best of all, once I had downed my tools I was able to join In the fun instead of going home.
