Ainsley & Craig – SWG3 Warehouse, Glasgow
One of the most important things to getting great wedding photographs is the venue. It was for this reason that I got very excited when Ainsley and Craig asked me to be their photographer. Their wedding was taking place at SWG3, Glasgow. SWG3 is a warehouse in the west end of Glasgow and is a multi purpose venue used for live music, club nights, art exhibitions as well as a photography studio. I knew straight away that this would make a fantastic venue for a wedding and that my pictures would be completely different to your usual church and function room wedding.
I visited the venue shortly before the big day to do a recce of places for photography and also to get an idea of how It would be set out on the day. I loved everything about the place and could see possibilities everywhere I looked. The outside was a gritty urban looking as you would expect from a warehouse In the middle of a big industrial town like Glasgow. The room where the ceremony was to take place is actually a photography studio on the top floor. This was a very bright room with a skylight directly above where Ainsley and Craig would be standing during the ceremony. This meant that there would be lots of light which is a godsend for me. There was also access to the roof for a small group of people with great views over the city centre. This venue was going to be perfect!.
I thought the exterior made a great background especially the graffiti wall, and I couldn’t help myself from doing the resevoir dogs style walk with Craig and his best men.
The Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony was a very personal and intimate affair. I loved how Ainsley’s blue dress added a splash of colour to the pictures, contrasting perfectly with the plain white walls of the studio.
Family, Friends and the Happy Couple
After the ceremony we were able to get out on the roof thankfully. It was touch and go all morning as It had been threatening to rain. It worked out great as you got great views of the city scape with the River Clyde, Science Centre and the railway.
As you can imagine for a venue that is used for gigs as well as club nights, the room where the function took place looked amazing. At the end of the first dance there was hardly any space on the dace floor and that was the way It stayed until the end of the night.
The Best Scottish Weddings Magazine loved the pictures that much they featured the wedding In the October issue.
