Post Wedding Photo Shoot Glasgow
At the start of the year I was asked by Abhi and Raj to take some portraits of the two of them. They got married just over a year ago and wanted to get some new pictures done, as they really enjoyed the experience of getting their wedding picture’s taken. This was something I had never been asked to do before as It is not very common. It is no different to getting a pre wedding photo shoot though and I think It’s a great idea. People generally only hire a professional photographer when they are getting married or they want pictures taken of their children. I think It’s a great idea for a young couple who are In love to get a professional portrait taken at any time. In years to come It will look much better than looking back at selfies taken on nights out. Not that there is anything wrong with a selfie :). I’m prone to take them myself.
Before the shoot took place, I met Abhi for a coffee to discuss what they wanted to do for the pictures. Abhi studied at Glasgow University and loved her time there, as well as the surroundings and architecture. So we settled on that for the location.
When I met up with them on the day, I was immediately impressed with how smart they both looked. They had both obviously made an effort which I liked. It was a beautiful day, though the harsh winter sun was less than ideal. As we walked about talking, Raj mentioned that he is very self conscious when getting his picture taken and doesn’t like anything too posed.
Due to the harsh sunlight, I wanted to find some shade. First off all I found a small tunnel leading to a large grass courtyard. This was a perfect place to start taking pictures. The Gothic Revival architecture of the university was simply stunning. Next I found the cloisters underneath the university. The harsh sunlight was reflecting of the pavement outside and lighting up the arches. This light was beautiful and where I got my best pictures.
Towards the end of the shoot, Raj started coming up with lots of ideas and suggesting different places to take pictures. I knew I had enough by this point but I went ahead with his ideas. It thought It was funny that the guy who at the start was telling me he was self conscious, now couldn’t get enough. When Raj was out of earshot, Abhi told me this means he is feeling comfortable with me and was enjoying himself. I took that as a massive compliment.
It the end I was really happy with how the pictures turned out. Abhi and Raj were also one of the nicest couples that I have had the pleasure to photograph.
