This was the second of my winter weddings and took place in November. Like the last one the weather forecast was terrible and the weather man was spot on again. This was no big deal though, as you will see from the following pictures you don’t need large venues in the countryside in summertime to have a fantastic wedding.
Shortly after I arrived at the venue the rain stopped. Not wanting to miss an opportunity I took the groom, best man and usher outside for some shots with the wedding car. We literally got five minutes before the heavens opened up again.
Once inside they guest were now starting to arrive, so I just hung about in the sidelines photographing people and moments as I saw them happen.
Next It was time for the ceremony, which was a very intimate affair.
As an experience photographer who regularly works in the studio. I have a portable flash kit that can turn any venue into a studio. This came in very handy on the day because I could not take everyone outside for the group shots.
Once the group shots were done I used the same studio flash set up to do pictures of the bride and groom.
This is my favourite from the day.
next It was time for the evening activities like the speeches and cutting the cake. I was really happy about how my pictures of the speeches turned out. The chemistry, warmth and banter of everyone in the wedding party came across really well.
After the first dance everyone got on the dance floor for a good time.
If a bride and groom were to ask me when Is the best time to get married. From a photography point of view I would always say the summer. Just because you are more likely to get good weather and there is more light which is key to getting great photographs. this experience has shown me that you can still get great pictures, even on a dull wet winter day.
This wedding is also where the video on my homepage was shot.
After the wedding I received this email from Laura,
“Hi Mark, I meant to e-mail you earlier to let you know that we were absolutely over the moon with our album! It’s beautiful and the pictures look fantastic-everyone has commented on how nice it is!”
